K-5 STEAM Expo 2024
COME JOIN THE FUN!
All K-5 Bethel students are invited to explore an area of STEAM interest by completing a project and presenting at the 2024 District-Wide STEAM EXPO
This is an optional project that provides students with a fun opportunity to explore a STEAM concept or discipline in greater depth.
The MOST important outcome is that you and your student have FUN exploring an area of interest in STEAM!!!
New for 2024!!!
April is Citizen Science Month!
We want to celebrate it by encouraging YOU and your child to engage in a Citizen Science Project for Steam Expo!
Citizen Science is open to ALL and involves curious and concerned people whose individual acts contribute to a collective impact that’s accelerating scientific research, discoveries, and local actions that improve the world. From sharing photos of nature to help communities, planners, and scientists document biodiversity, to browsing images on your computer to help speed up research about Alzheimer's disease, to using your phone to help track microplastic and air quality, each of these Acts of science is important.
Small acts, such as sharing a picture of a bee, can help scientists across the country better understand the population changes of pollinators (which are responsible for one-third of the food we eat). More committed acts, such as reporting weather observations frequently over time, help the National Weather Service improve weather forecasts.
Nobody knows everything, but everybody knows something, and together, we can help solve local, regional, national, and global challenges. Interested? CLICK HERE TO LEARN MORE!

BETHEL PUBLIC SCHOOLS STEAM EXPO
4/24/2024
6:00-8:00 PM at Bethel High School
Students who participate will be assigned a "showcase" time at the Expo to share their projects.
Students will have plenty of time to explore all of the other offerings and exhibits at the STEAM Expo!
We encourage parental involvement in all phases of the project!
WHAT ARE THE PROJECTS?
K-5 Projects
Be Marie Curie or Thomas Edison- Do a simple science investigation or experiment and explain how it works.
Myth Busters - Design a creative and accurate demonstration, experiment, or model to “bust” a science myth and explain the “real science” to your audience.
Don't see anything that appeals?
Have a better idea ?
Students are welcome to explore at a self directed project too!
WHAT TIME COMMITMENT SHOULD WE EXPECT?
K-2 students should expect to spend 1-2 weeks on the project and creating a presentation.
3-5 students should expect to spend 2-3 weeks on the project and creating a presentation.
